List of Islands Occupied by China (PRC) on the Spratlys Part 2

The communist run country of the People's Republic of China (PRC) claim all of the Spratly group of islands as part of its territory. They included the islands as part of Sansha prefecture which is in part under Hainan province.

4. Johnson South Reef (Chigua Reef or Gạc Ma Reef in Chinese赤瓜礁pinyinChìguā JiāoĐá Gạc Ma in Vietnamese)
An Island controlled by Vietnam until 1988 after which it was conquered by China (PRC). This skirmish resulted to 70 Vietnamese deaths. The island only rises during low tide so the Chinese built embankment building around the island to prevent erosion.

5. Mischief Reef, or Meiji Reef (Meiji Jiao in Chinese; in FilipinoPanganiban in Filipino; Đá Vành Khăn in Vietnamese)
A very disputed reef that lies just  130 miles off the coast of Palawan. In 1994, the Chinese secretly started to build infrastructures on the reef. The Philippines protested this action but decided no to attack in fear of further escalation just like what happened on Johnson South Reef which resulted to 70 Vietnamese deaths.

Mischief Reef


6. Subi Reef or Zhubi Reef (Zhǔbì Jiāo in ChineseZamora in Tagalogđá Xu Bi in Vietnamese)
A reef currently occupied by China (PRC) which is only 16 miles southwest of Philippine occupied Thitu island. It only rises above water on low tide. The Chinese built a three-story building in the area which has military equipment and a helipad.
